I presented on multi-generational teaching and learning at the twelfth annual conference of the Maryland Consortium for Adjunct Faculty Professional Development (MCAPD) this past weekend at Carroll Community College in Westminster, Maryland. What a wonderful group of people — all of whom are deeply committed teachers. Jim Lang, author of the books Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning and Cheating Lessons, made the keynote. There were presentations on just about every instructional topic imaginable, including assessment, diversity, motivation–you name it. Attendees hailed from many different content areas. For example, faculty from the culinary arts and the entrepreneurship fields were in the audience at my presentation. I learned as much from them as they did from me. I certainly hope to attend this conference again next year and encourage others to do so, too!
